Arnet Baby Story {St. Louis, Mo.}
My camera and I have been there with The Arnet's through some of their most important life events. Their engagement, wedding, their 1st pregnancy, in the hospital room when their first son, Gavin, was born, when they brought that son home and now I have had the honor to document the birth story of their 2nd son, Rylan.
Gavin is a big boy now :)
Rylan had some special circumstances surrounding his birth. The doctors detected a problem and Amy and Jake were told they would have to prepare for a c-section.
It is so awesome when the doctors agree to let a birth photographer in the c-section room. The mother is so out of it she really doesn't get to remember the first precious moments like seeing your baby for the first time.
And if dad is behind a camera (or busy passing out) he just may miss it too. (You gotta have a little snack before hand Jake ;)
So back in the c-section room the doctors and nurses were checking Rylan out. They decided they needed more tests and immediately took him to the NICU. Amy and Jake were definitely worried. I will admit I did my best to be professional and do the job I was there to do but I was also silently praying for this young family.
Since I was not allowed in the NICU for obvious reasons I drove home feeling helpless to do anything more for them. After only 4 days in the hospital everyone was amazed and relieved to hear that after all the scariness of the pregnancy and Rylan's stay in the NICU, his test results proved him to be a happy healthy little guy and he was going home :)
Gavin is fascinated with baby brother's toes :)
Now I didn't invent this pose but when Amy told me she wanted to do it for Rylan I had to agree it was fitting. Rylan is truly a gift from God and praise God indeed for his precious little soul :)
