Savage Family Baby Story {St. Louis, Mo.}

I met the savage family last fall for a maternity session. They are really cool family and I felt an instant connection to them.

They have two boys full of energy and about the same as my own.

The big difference is they had another one on the way.

One day I got a call from them informing me that the baby had a heart condition. This meant a c-section and the baby would require open heart surgery almost immediately after he was born. Sounded very scary of course but they were so calm and faithful.

The day of the c-section came and it was time for their sweet boy to make his appearance.

He was 5 lbs. and 14 oz.

They said his heart sounded good.

By all accounts he seemed fine. Were it not for the tests they ran before he was born no one would ever have noticed a thing wrong. Praise God that they caught it because it had to be dealt with. Off he went to the NICU.

Its just terrifying to see a baby so tiny hooked up to so many wires and machines. This precious little brand new baby was up against a lot of tests, monitoring and the surgery the first week of his life. I left the hospital prayerful and hopeful but so worried.

The surgery was a success!! He was in the hospital almost a month. In that time he had some very close calls. I was so happy to be able to finally come visit him at his home.

For The Savage family, please keep them in your prayers. Their youngest son will have two more surgeries in his young life. To The Savage family you guys are an incredible family. I am grateful to have met you all and am thrilled to see your family complete :)
